AU4 CHAMPIONSHIP DOWN TO THE WIRE AS SYDNEY DELIVERS THREE STANDOUT RACES

01/09/2025: The AU4 Championship joined the national Motorsport Australia Trophy Tour at Sydney Motorsport Park last weekend, with the Tatuus Gen2 and Mygale Gen1 classes delivering three hard-fought races under clear skies and almost ideal racing conditions.

Qualifying set the tone for the weekend, with Noah Killion (AGI Sport) and Isaac McNeill (Volante Rosso) swapping fastest lap times; Killion edged McNeill in Q1, while McNeill responded in Q2, just ahead of Harrison Duske (Tim Macrow Racing). In Gen1 qualifying, Andrew Fitzpatrick (Fitzpatrick Racing) set the pace, with Jensen Marold (AGI Sport) in P2 for both qualifying sessions.

Race 1 saw Killion convert pole into victory after a tense duel with McNeill, with Duske completing the Gen2 podium. Brock Burton (Tim Macrow Racing) and Nathan Gotch (AGI Sport) rounded out the top five. In Gen1, Marold (AGI Sport) continued his unbeaten run with another class win ahead of Fitzpatrick and Koby Wilson (AGI Sport).

Race 2 again went to Killion, holding off Duske in a close finish, but it was a monster set of moves by McNeill to claim third after a high-speed off at turn 1 that was the highlight of the race. The drama continued when De’Argo Stewart (AGI Sport) went off at Turn 18 on the final lap, requiring the crew to repair the damaged nose of his Mygale ahead of Race 3, but it did not red-flag the race. The Gen1 class again finished with Marold, Fitzpatrick and Wilson in one-two-three.

The weekend concluded with McNeill striking back in Gen2, converting pole into victory ahead of Killion. Cohen Kokotovich, still managing issues after a previous-round incident, stepped into the Gotch Tatuus for the final race and fought with Burton and Duske for a podium spot. Duske’s challenge ended with a late mechanical failure, allowing Kokotovich to secure third ahead of Burton.

Marold completed a hard-fought but clean sweep in Gen1 for the round win, ahead of a charging Fitzpatrick and Wilson, with Stewart showing real grit to finish fourth.

The Gen2 round win went to Killion, with McNeill second and Burton third. The Gen1 round win mirrored the race results, with Marold followed by Fitzpatrick and Wilson. Gotch took out the Masters first place win.

Heading into the final round this month, the Gen2 class championship is still very much on the line. Just two points separate leader McNeill (236) and Killion (234), setting up a winner-takes-all showdown. Harrison Duske is still in contention for third (187), while the rest of the field will fight it out for the top five.

Marold took out the 2025 Gen1 championship last weekend with a round to spare on an untouchable 317 points. This leaves Fitzpatrick (198) and Wilson (180) to battle it out for the second and third place standings at the end of the month.

The 2025 Motorsport Australia AU4 Championship will wrap up at Sydney Motorsport Park on September 28–29.
