New Look AU4 Championship Delivers Thrilling Debut Weekend

Tailem Bend, South Australia, May 26, 2025: The Bend Motorsport Park hosted a high-stakes weekend of racing for the Motorsport Australia AU4 Championship on May 24–25,featuring three fiercely contested races and standout performances from some of thenation’s most promising young drivers.

Over the course of the weekend, three different drivers claimed outright victories, highlighting the depth and competitiveness of the AU4grid, while the new dual-class structure saw drivers as young as 14 highlight their potentialin the Gen1 Class.

The weekend began with two competitive qualifying sessions on Saturday morning, where the Gen 2 Tatuus F4-T421 of Harrison Duske (Tim Macrow Racing) pipped Noah Killion (AGISport) for pole position in Race 1 with an impressive fastest lap of 1:50:7734, with Imogen Radburn (AGI Sport) in third.

Quali 2 for pole position in Race 3 saw Killion hit back withfastest and first, followed by Radburn and Isaac McNeill (Volante Rosso), and setting the stage for an intense battle across the weekend's three races.

Saturday's afternoon race saw polesitter Duske deliver a commanding drive to claim victory,holding the lead despite pressure from Radburn and McNeill who completed the podium placings. Killion set the fastest lap of the weekend in that session with a blistering 1:50.7196,showcasing the speed potential of the Tatuus F4 and also earning him the Race 2 poleposition.

On Sunday morning, Race 2 saw Killion strike back with a measured and mature drive. Though he lost the lead to McNeill on lap two, Killion chased down the five-second deficit to retake the lead and the win with two laps to go. Radburn showed her speed and consistency to take another podium in third.

Race 3 on Sunday afternoon delivered a strong conclusion to the weekend, with McNeill using his pole position earned in Quali 2 to break through for a race victory. Radburn capped off her strong weekend showing with a thrilling last-lap move around the outside of Duske to claim second place, while the latter clocked the fastest lap of the race and secured third.

Noah Killion, who was tied for the championship lead heading into the final race after a victory in Race 2, suffered heartbreak when his gear shift control unit left him stuck in fifth gear, but he nursed the car home to collect valuable Championship points.

The Gen 2 and Outright Championship after round one is separated by just seven points, with Isaac McNeill on top with 58 points, Harrison Duske on 53 points, and Imogen Radburn just two points adrift on 51 points.au4-championship.com.au

The Gen 1 Class showcased a competitive field of talented drivers in the Mygale M14-F4 machines, with Jensen Marold (AGI Sport) setting the pace in qualifying with first in the class and 6th place overall. Close behind, Koby Wilson (AGI Sport) and JesseJames Samuels (AGI Sport) demonstrated strong pace, qualifying in second and third respectively.

Andrew Fitzpatrick (Fitzpatrick Racing) also delivered a solid performance, earning 10th on the grid. Race day brought exciting and spirited competition among the Mygale drivers. Marold maintained consistency to finish first in class and 7th outright in Race 1, closely followed by Wilson and Fitzpatrick. In subsequent races, the Mygale drivers continued to battle hard, with Marold fighting with the faster Gen2 machines and claiming 6th outright in Race 3.

Although some drivers faced set backs, such as Chloe Lane retiring in Race 3, the overall performances highlighted the skill and determination within the Mygale M14-F4 field, promising an exciting future for these emerging talents.

Marold sets the pace in the Gen1 Championship with 77 points, leading Koby Wilson on 54 and Andrew Fitzpatrick on 45 points. Lawrence Katsidis took out the Masters Class win. The championship remains in South Australia for the next round at The Bend Motorsport Park on July 12–13. From there, the series travels to the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Victoria on August 16–17, before the season’s conclusion in two back-to-back events at Sydney Motorsport Park on August 29–31 and September 26–28.
